DONATIONS TO ORPHANAGES IN GUINEA

Guinea Orphan story newsroom main.png

Our Guinea office decided to support the children living in orphan centres by donating much needed items.

We first reached out to Coyah Orphan Centre, which houses 30 children, ages 3 to 15.

The orphanage was elated when they heard that Carmeuse agreed to support their centre…. In their words: “Our key donator passed away last year in France due to covid-19, and since then we have been struggling to take care of the kids. So if you could make your support happen that would save us”.

Carmeuse Guinea got to work and purchased the necessary items needed by the orphanage, and handed them over on the 3rd of March, together with a Carmeuse t-shirt for each child.  The items donated were basic food items such as milk, rice, sugar, corned beef etc. and we also donated other essentials such as soap, school bags, books, pens, pencils and writing boards.

A wheelchair was also purchased for 1 of the children in the centre as the present one was no longer functional.

On March 12, 2022, Carmeuse Guinea also donated similar items to the orphan centre in Gomboyah. This centre houses 37 children, ages 3 to 17. It was wonderful to hear that most of the school going children at the orphanage, are top performing students in their respective classes.
