On the 29th of May 2024, a significant community sanitation and cleaning initiative took place in the school zone of Hay Nezaha-El Mina. This event was a collaborative effort involving Carmeuse Mauritania staff, the El Mina municipality and the students from Teissir & Capital 9 schools.

The day was marked by several activities aiming at improving the local environment and raising awareness about the importance of sanitation. Everybody worked hand in hand to clean up the area, showing the power of community involvement in maintaining a healthy living space.

In addition to the cleaning efforts, there was an educational campaign directed at the residents of the neighbourhood. The campaign focused on enlightening the community about the benefits of proper sanitation practices and how they contribute to the overall well-being of the environment and public health. We donated the necessary cleaning materials, and hope this will aid in the ongoing efforts to keep the area clean.

Furthermore, in an effort to green the school grounds and promote environmental sustainability, 30 trees were planted at Teissir School. These trees can serve as a reminder and a commitment of the community to environment stewardship.

The event was a resounding success, leaving a positive impact on the community and, hopefully, setting a precedent for future actions.
