Carmeuse Overseas started our Health Day initiative in 2019 at our plants in Ghana and Zambia. The event was wonderfully received and therefore 2021 saw the participation of our plants and offices in Ghana, Zambia, Switzerland, and Turkey.
Zambia had a very energetic day filled with many activities such as, running, aerobics, relay, and sack races, and lastly volleyball. The day was finished off with a delicious lunch.
Ghana had a similarly energetic day, with 96 participants taking part in the main event being aerobics, which was then followed by table tennis, a snooker challenge and 5-a-side football matches.
Our Turkish team did a 6 km hike in the mountains to a beautiful waterfall, after which they went for a swim in the sea to cool off.
Our Swiss office opted for a more environmentally inspired Health Day as they went walking in the mountains, cleaning up rubbish along the way under the ski chairlifts, finishing off with a well-deserved lunch. Added to this, they also recycled a substantial amount of office waste.
Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire are planning their Health Days for later in the year in line with present covid-19 regulations in both countries.
This is an extremely important event for all participants, creating team building amongst employees and uplifting the spirits.
