After Carmeuse took over the management of Handyman’s Lime in 2017, certain key areas of investment were prioritized, with employee’s welfare being one of them. The construction of a three in one building to house the canteen, changing room and clinic (in short: the change house), and the renovation of the operators’ room were therefore recognized.
NEW CANTEEN, CLINIC & CHANGE HOUSE
In August 2020, the construction of a modern infrastructure to house the canteen, a changing room and clinic, was commissioned. The canteen and the changing room are equipped to cater for all 138 employees. The canteen is also available for use by our contractors at a fee. The facility has been officially opened on the 1st of June 2021.
THE RENOVATED OPERATORS’ ROOM
The control room is home to four employees per shift running, working in the space up to 12 hours. The upgrade included the installation of new toilets and showers as well as a much-needed front entrance, enabling fast and easy access to the kiln.
