In 2019 Carmeuse Overseas brought TerraCalco to Africa, to improve the soil structure and increase the productivity of the soil for different crops. TerraCalco provides nutritional characteristics to improve the soil for productivity. The magnesium and calcium present in the product, offset the soil acidity and enhance the availability of plant nutrients.
Today, TerraCalco is produced at Carmeuse Lime Products in Ghana and a production unit at Carmeuse Cote d’Ivoire, will be opening soon. Carmeuse Overseas is engaged in trials with cocoa producers to showcase the efficiency of the new product.
Why cocoa? Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire produce approximately 3 million tons per year, making them the largest producers in the world.
